What's It Worth?
Thanks to many great TV programs, more people ask this question every day. If you listen carefully, you will hear experts talk about “retail price”, “auction estimate”, “fair market value”, “replacement value” or simply the price they are willing to pay. Items may have different values depending on the purpose of the appraisal. Make sure you hire a qualified appraiser who understands these values so your appraisal meets your intended use.

What is Fair Market Value?
Fair market value is the most common price paid by a knowledgeable buyer when the seller knows what the item is really worth.  It is not the highest price ever paid, nor is it the lowest but it is the fair price for the item.

What is Replacement Cost?
Retail replacement value is the price you would have to pay to replace the item when you go to the most common market for it.

Why Get an Appraisal From a Qualified Appraiser?
Although many dealers claim to do appraisals and may provide you with an estimate of the value of your items, this value is likely what they would hope to get for the items if they are selling them for you or what they are willing to pay for the items.  This does not give you an impartial understanding of what your property is worth.  A qualified appraiser will give you an unbiased valuation.  You then have the expert knowledge to make decisions about your property.

Do You Buy Items?

Our opinion of value is unbiased and not contingent on any financial outcomes. We do not buy appraised items.

How Long Does an Appraisal Take to Complete?
The appraisal has three steps;
  •   On site inspection and collection of information and pictures of the items to be appraised
  •   Research on the items to be valued
  •   Report writing
On site inspection time depends on the number and type of items to be appraised. The research and report will be completed in a timely manner following the completion on the on site inspection.
